So what has made the Smile such an appealing product? Well, according to Fermax it is the gift of being able to make the complex exceedingly simple. I have to admit, looking at its ultra slimline profile and reduced and stylised interface, I have to agree.
I’ve no doubt that this is a very advanced piece of kit judging by what it can do. What makes it appealing is just how simple it will be to use for end users. The icons are intuitive and imply meaning in a very direct and visual manner. The icon of a key or a person speaking for instance will be understood by anyone.
The menu functions are just as clear. The mute call option requires selecting “do not disturb” and setting the time. You press the green tick and the option is programmed. Another elegant feature is that some of the buttons remain invisible, but light up when they are required.
As with a lot of Fermax products, you are given some pretty advanced functions as standard. These range from polyphonic ringtones to lift control. Simplicity and customisation appear key to this product and the way that these appear will be immediately clear to any installer or end user. These added functions to the basic communications options have turned the Smile into a sophisticated home access control system.
The smile can come in two varieties, 7” or 3.5” screen, and both can be surface or flush mounted, so you have some wiggle room depending on the needs of your installation. When surface mounted the profile of the Smile is only 20 mm. However, with a flush mount the profile is only 4 mm. Both are very impressive.
All in all, you can see why the Fermax are proud of this product.
